Questions? Short answers.
How tonestro listens, how it compares to music lessons, and what is in your subscription.
DeutschHow tonestro works
- How does tonestro hear me play? tonestro listens through the microphone of your phone or tablet while you play your own instrument, no cable needed, and shows you right away which notes were right.
- Why doesn't tonestro recognize my notes? Usually the microphone or the room is the reason: allow the microphone, play in a quiet room and tune your instrument with the tuner in tonestro.
- Which instruments can I learn with tonestro? You can learn 13 instruments with tonestro: piano, guitar, violin, cello, saxophone, flute, clarinet, recorder, trumpet, trombone, horn, euphonium and tuba.
- Which version of my instrument do I have? Choose the version you play, so the notes and the listening match your instrument.
- What do I need to practice with tonestro? You need your own instrument, a compatible phone or tablet and an internet connection: tonestro listens through the built-in microphone, with no cable to your instrument.
- Will I really play my first song in 10 minutes? For most beginners, yes: in your first 10 minutes you play one or two notes along with a real song and a band, small at first but real music.
tonestro or in-person lessons?
- Music lessons or an app: which is right for me? If you want to practice whenever it suits you and still know right away whether you played it right, tonestro is right for you: the music school at home that listens to you. If you want a teacher to work on your technique in person, take lessons with one, or combine both.
- Can I learn an instrument without a teacher? Yes, you can teach yourself an instrument with tonestro: you learn at your own pace with material made by music teachers, and the app listens to every note you play.
- Can I use tonestro alongside music lessons? Yes, tonestro is a good companion to music lessons: between lessons it listens while you practice and shows you right away which notes were right. It doesn't replace your teacher.
- Am I too old to learn an instrument? No, you can start an instrument at any age: you learn at your own pace, and tonestro listens to every note you play.
