Getting started with the piano

Most adults who start the piano have wanted to play for years. You don’t need talent or a fixed lesson time. You need a few minutes on most days and something that tells you right away whether it was right. tonestro does that: it listens to every note you play.

The course starts with your first notes and a simple melody, then builds up to playing with both hands. Along the way you learn to read notes and keep a steady rhythm, with real songs from the first lesson.

Practice when it suits you, in the morning before work or in the evening. Slow a hard piece down to 80% or 60% speed, then play it at full speed.

What you need

  • A piano or a keyboard at home
  • An iPhone or iPad: tonestro listens through its microphone, no cable needed
  • A few minutes on most days
