How does tonestro hear me play?

tonestro listens through the microphone of your phone or tablet while you play your own instrument, no cable needed, and shows you right away which notes were right.

  • Wind and string instruments: right notes turn green, missed ones red; a wrong note shows in red above or below. A line left of a note means too early, right of it too late.
  • Expert mode (settings of a lesson or song): also shows small deviations in pitch and rhythm, in orange.
  • Piano: a note turns green once it's right and red if you miss it. When tonestro waits for you, it turns orange after a few seconds and you see the keys.
  • Once more: too many notes off in a course? You play the passage again.
  • Where it listens: lessons, songs and the challenge, not theory lessons. Notes not recognized?

Try it yourself: play your first notes and see tonestro's feedback.
